So there’s a 99.9% chance that I’ll be taking an extended trip to the U.K. from July 9th to August 6th, spending a week in London, then a 5-6 day side trip to Bruges, Amsterdam and Paris, then back to U.K. to hopefully see Wales and scotland.
Airfare is covered, and room and board is partly covered.
Now I just need to find the cash to pay for food, drink, and entertainment.

I feel as though George Lucas has raped my childhood and ruined two of the best movie trilogies of all time. First star wars, and now Indian Jones.
So I decided this weekend that in keeping with my planned black & grey interior theme for my car, I was going to cover my door panel inserts in black perforated leather, to match the seats.
I’ve had the leather, and the new door panels (sans window crank holes) for a couple of weeks, but was stalled in figuring out how to cover the inserts.
end result, it either can’t be done, or I simply can’t do it (I lean towards the latter) and I’m out $100 for the project, and now have a completely ruined passenger side rear door panel, so I have only 3 doors in the car right now that no longer have window crank holes.
Oh well… this whole failure thing seems to be a new trend for me.
Why is it that the later in the evening, the bad drivers come out?
Driving home from the gym just now, an old beat up pickup truck (with illegal yellow headlights that were distracting) and a “fancy” Mazda RX-8 (with an equally illegal aftermarket HID conversion that was also distracting) were consistently blocking my ability to change lanes (in anticipation of an upcoming turn) for three stoplights.
And why?
Was there any real reason other than their own stupidity? Regardless of whatever the superficial reason (they don’t like my car or the way it looks/sounds/etc., they were showing off for girlfriends, they need to constantly stroke their own ego, etc.) it all boils down to stupidity.
Why are people like that able to pass the driving test? Clearly they failed to take seriously the dangers of reckless driving. The fact that they have the ability to drive is a failure of our social system.
The real irony of it all… if they thought my desire to change lanes was an attempt to race, it wasn’t.
I was coasting along in 5th gear, at the speed limit, 45mph. If I had wanted to race, or really to even just pass them, I could have downshifted into 3rd, and passed them both.
