paradigm shift…

So today I discovered Golite an outdoor equipment company that was founded in 1999 on the premise that you don’t need 65lbs of gear to go backpacking, and subsequently realized that most outdoor equipment is overbuilt, overpriced, and overweight.

Accordingly… I’ve had a bit of a paradigm shift, and my goal is to get my outdoor gear to less than 20 lbs, before food and water.

Ironically, it means the brand new, never-used Arc’Teryx frame-pack I bought back at thanksgiving, will be going on ebay soon, in exchange for a much lighter pack.

It also means that my wishlist page has been updated and refined.

a man of means by no means…

“Two years he walks the earth. No phone, no pool, no pets, no cigarettes. Ultimate freedom. An extremist. An aesthetic voyager whose home is the road. Escaped from Atlanta. Thou shalt not return, ’cause “the west is the best.” And now, after two rambling years comes the final and greatest adventure. The climactic battle to kill the false being within and victoriously conclude the spiritual revolution. Ten days and nights of freight trains and hitchhiking bring him to the great white north. No longer to be poisoned by civilization he flees, and walks alone upon the land to become LOST IN THE WILD.
