well, while i’m sure this will disappoint some of my extended family, (whom I’m going to see in a few short hours) I just finished registering to attend U.C.S.B. (Santa Barbara) this coming fall.
when push comes to shove, in ten years my undergraduate institution will not matter, and in 2 years, my applications to law school and/or graduate school will stand a better chance of being accepted if my scores on the LSAT/GMAT/GRE are high and my GPA is high, which I have a better opportunity to achieve at UCSB, where their financial aid package is going to cover the total cost of my education without loans or work-study. Plus since I’m a “Regents Scholar” I am automatically enrolled in the honors program.
Bleh… time to shower and get ready for a long drive…
p.s. if you notice any weird blogs over the next few days its most probably temporary while i iron out the kinks of posting to my blog from netnewswire
so i’ve decided to name him “achilles.”
I’m not really sure why, except that it was one of the first names i thought of, and i like it.
… another pet.
so be honest, that little guy is in fact too cute to not rescue him, right?
anyway… still thinking of a name. he was nicknamed “everest” but i was thinking more along the lines of socrates, achilles, etc.
any thoughts?
Well, its decision time…
I was accepted at all 4 schools I applied to, UCSD, UCSB, UCSC, and UCB.
All of them put together roughly the same financial aid package, $22000/year with roughly $5000 in subsidized loans.
All of them except UCSB whom today informed me that I’ve been awarded a Regents Scholarship which would a) guarantee me housing if necessary, b) give me on campus benefits, c) give me an additional $6000 a year free, for 2 years, and d) replace “need based loans and federal work study as determined by my FAFSA with more grants and scholarships, thus effectively granting me a free education at UCSB.
decisions…
any thoughts?
